There is a castle on the border between the Lion and Scorpion lands. Year by year the castle changed hands, until the Emperor became tired of the ongoing conflict. His Majesty appropriated the castle, then granted the title of daimyo to his eldest personal yojimbo, Seppun Seiken. As the new daimyo, Seiken wanted to keep the balance between the rival clans. He sent his son to learn in a Lion dojo and appointed an honorable Scorpion as hatamoto. Unfortunately the mind of the samurai declined with his age, and when he realized the full extent of his illness, he asked the Hatamoto to keep his condition secret until his son returns from the dojo...
